And now we would like to draw your attention to Muslim holidays. Since the majority of the population of Kyrgyzstan is Muslim, there are many holidays that have been celebrated for decades. For example, Nooruz is a Muslim holiday celebrated on March 21, the day of the vernal equinox. On this day, the Kyrgyz prepare their traditional cuisine. The main traditional dish is sumolok; it is prepared specially for this holiday for about 5 hours. The preparation of the sumolok is accompanied by singing and dancing. On this day, people hold celebrations, visit their friends and relatives to honor the memory of older family members.

Also, the Orozo Ait holiday is considered a Muslim holiday. This holiday is one of the main Islamic holidays. The celebration is appointed only according to the lunar Islamic calendar. This holiday marks the end of the holy month of fasting Ramadan. During which all Muslims observe the fast, food and water must not be taken before sunset.

Kurman Ait is the holiday of Sacrifice. On this day, every faithful Muslim sacrifices a sheep or lamb. The meat goes to family festive meals, the rest is given to the poor.
